5 effective ways to stop hair loss and stimulate growth

A bathroom floor covered with loosened strands or a thin looking pony tail can be disturbing, but not unusual. Normal hair loss is considered to be 100 hairs per day, based on the average scalp containing 100,000 hair follicles. Realistically, that’s going to be a torture to count every single day to find out if you’re facing hair loss.

By the time a woman reaches age 50, approximately half will be dealing with some degree of pattern hair loss. It’s even more appalling for men – 25 percent of men who are affected by the condition begin to see the first signs of hair loss before age 21.

The point is, just because thinning is natural doesn’t mean you have to endure it.

Many reasons that hair loss or hair thinning. What you should ask now, is what are the healthy methods without choosing the extreme route? Perhaps shaving bald, hoping it would grow thicker again? (obviously does not work, so put that razor down!) How can I stimulate hair growth? These are excellent questions, let us give you our advice.

Adjusting your diet

Nutrients and nutrients again. Can’t repeat this enough. Include protein, glucose, vitamins (particularly A, B and E) and iron. Be careful not to consume too much vitamin A or E as this can cause hair to fall out. Foods such as salmon, honey, nuts & seeds, spinach and oysters to name a few are rich in proven hair – growth nutrients.

Rethink your hair care habits

Give your hair a breather and put those hair dryers and irons away. Over styling can severely weaken hair, causing dryness and breakage, and lead to a type of hair loss called Traction Alopecia. Avoid using too much heat, wearing wigs and extensions, braiding, and tight ponytails. Just keep it natural. When in the shower, give yourself a head massage. This improves blood flow to the scalp and aids the penetration of any treatment shampoos you use.

Relax and breathe

When you undergo stress or suffer illness, one of the first things that happen is that your hair fall out rate will increase. This is because the body considers hair production to be a non-essential.
We’re not going to say avoid stress, however, learn how to manage it. Don’t minimize the power of meditation. Once mastered, hair growth cycle rebalances although this can be 6 months or more after the event.

Natural home remedies (to name a few):

Hot oil massage:

The tradition of oiling the hair to enhance and retain its natural beauty hails from ancient India. It helps to counter hair fall and stimulate growth. Warm the oil of your choice (coconut, olive, canola, jojoba, sesame, etc.) by heating it. Not too hot but bearable. Gently massage your scalp using your fingers. Next, wear a shower cap, leave it on for about 1 hour and rinse off using a mild shampoo.

DIY hair masks:

Restrain hair loss by making hair masks at home using natural ingredients such as banana, coconut oil, olive oil and honey.

Consider laser treatments

If the old school ways are not working and especially in severe cases, hair loss treatments might help the hair return to normal. EstheClinic has specially developed the Slow & Regrow Hair Loss Treatment which utilises FDA-approved Low-Level Laser Therapy to stimulate the hair follicle regrowth process while slowing down the rate of hair loss. Combined with their Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) and the DermaBooster XL the results will:

  •  Stop hair loss

  •  Stimulate hair regrowth

  •  Improve quality and density of the hair

  •  Reduce seborrhoea

  •  Strengthen hair structure

  •  Improve microcirculation

So there you have it! As the saying goes, ‘Invest in your hair, it is the crown you never take off.’
