IPL hair removal or laser hair removal?
How does IPL permanent hair removal work?
The primary principle behind Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) hair removal is ‘selective photothermolysis’ (SPTL), the matching of a specific wavelength of light and pulse duration to obtain maximum impact on the targeted tissue with minimum effect to the surrounding tissue.
This treatment produces light energy, which is then absorbed into the dark pigment of the hair (melanin) and the heat generated causes the permanent destruction of the hair follicle. Each hair follicle will be at a different stage of growth, which is why 8 to 12 spaced treatments are required for optimal results.
What is the difference between laser hair removal and IPL hair removal?
These different forms of hair removal are similar in terms of efficiency, comfort and safety. As a client, you are unlikely to notice any difference during the treatment.
The primary distinction between laser hair removal and IPL hair removal is that, in Hong Kong, laser treatments must be administered by doctors. Therefore, the cost of laser hair removal can be higher. EstheClinic Paris was founded by Dr Boutboul and Dr Leone – pioneers and catalysers of innovative technologies in aesthetic medicine for over 20 years, with 15 years’ experience of both laser hair removal and IPL hair removal treatments. Today, we have chosen to work in a non-medical environment.
This difference does not mean that a laser hair removal treatment would be automatically safer or have better results. In fact, there are various generations of laser and IPL technologies, and many would not be suitable for all the skin types. Our patented No Pain System (NPS) comes from the BVA Technology Group, which has been manufacturing and distributing medical and aesthetic equipment to doctors and dermatologists throughout Europe for over 15 years. The new generation of IPL machines are safe, efficient and are a real alternative to laser hair removal.
All our therapists use processes developed by doctors, and EstheClinic maintains a partnership with physicians to ensure the team is always up to speed with the latest medical advances. This is why we always start with a consultation to assess the individual’s skin condition and medical history, and every piece of our equipment is maintained to a high medical standard.
If you require advice or more information about any of our IPL hair removal treatments, our therapists are only a quick message away. Get in contact with us today ! At EstheClinic, we offer a free consultation to get you started on your journey to silky-smooth skin.
